Martinsburg, WV – There are times when someone says something and you just shake your head and wonder what sort of alternate reality they inhabit. Of course, it should come as no surprise to hear that Nancy Pelosi has recently made such statements. She seems to have a penchant for making statements that are completely out of step with the American people; and have no common sense value whatsoever.
Relating to the push to defund Planned Parenthood of all federal tax money, she offered a tid-bit of backward thinking by saying the movement to defund Planned Parenthood “put women and children last.” What?!
Oh yes, she said that. Ms. Pelosi believes that Planned Parenthood is an organization that seeks to help women and children with quality health services. She no doubt believes the rhetoric of PPFA and President Cecile Richards that PP holds itself to the highest standards, complies with all state and federal laws, and seeks the well-being of women and children. Right…and I’m the tooth fairy.
Maybe Ms. Pelosi missed the videos released by Live Action showing PP workers attempting to cover up an underage sex-trafficking ring and help the underage, illegal immigrant girls’ pimp skirt the law. It didn’t happen once, it has happened, so far five times! So much for compliance with state and federal laws! Will someone please tell Ms. Pelosi she can watch those highly disturbing undercover videos here? Or maybe she wants to read this story of the PP worker that tried to force a raped 14 year old to have an abortion.
Maybe we should look at some stats from Planned Parenthood to see all of the “good” they are doing. Lifenews.com has posted some eye-opening stats that should clear up any misconception about PP.
“Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider, and while the national number of abortions (until recently) has been steadily in decline over the past decades, the percentage of these abortions being performed by Planned Parenthood has been steeply on the rise. Between 1990 and 2007, that percentage rose by 236%.
“Furthermore, Planned Parenthood provides far more abortion than any other ‘service’ to pregnant mothers. In 2007 PPFA performed 28 abortions for every one mother receiving prenatal care and 62 abortions for every one adoption referral. They also fought hard against laws that would inform women about abortion’s risks, fetal development, and alternatives to abortion. In fact, they have fought any and all legal limits on abortion, including those the overwhelming majority of Americans approve of.”
Let’s recap. In 17 years the percentage of abortions done by PP went up by 236%. For every mother that received prenatal care or an adoption referral 90 abortions were performed. PP fought to keep hidden information on the mother’s health risks, fetal development, and alternatives to abortion. PP has repeatedly fought legal limits to abortion.
I won’t pretend to understand the logic Ms. Pelosi and others use to try and convince me or anyone else that PP is looking out for women and children. Or that abortion is somehow in the best interest of the child. Such backward drivel is beyond my scope of understanding. What I do know is that PP has done everything in its power to advance abortion in the United States and around the world while pretending to be an organization dedicated to safe medical services for women and children.
My disdain for PP is well documented. I make no bones about it, I want to see them permanently defunded and then watch as center after center closes its doors forever; nothing would make me happier. I will still find it appalling that anyone would dare defend this criminal organization that has no other goal than to help pimps and sex-traffickers skirt the law, cover up rapes and prostitution, and abort as many innocent children as they can. And then for someone like Ms. Pelosi to defend using my tax dollars to fund them is nothing more than a slap in the face.
Well, Ms. Pelosi, get ready for a great big collective pro-life slap back.
Support defunding Planned Parenthood and make sure your elected lawmakers know you support it. We can no longer afford PP’s method of putting women and children first. As it was astutely noted:
“The one time they are ‘putting children first’ – first in line to be killed.”
