The Engaging Essentials – 9/23

The Philosophical Tyranny of the Homosexual Agenda – Alan Sears, CEO of the Alliance Defense Fund, makes an unfortunately good parallel between two modern political philosophies.

SSM – Not Again – Matthias Media articulates a very good, measured, and Biblical case for marriage.  Pastors, take note.

Whither Marriage? – “Marriage seals and protects the social and domestic trajectories of erotic union. Nearly all societies, whatever exceptions they allow for divorce and separation, invest the union with the promise of permanence. Bound together by the force of custom and law, the married couple fulfills in an institutional way the unbending, unquenchable, and all-consuming desire of erotic love. As the Song of Songs puts it: ‘Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death.’”

Texas Tolerance – A 14-year old boy is suspended for vocalizing a Biblical view of sexuality while at school.

What Cohabitation Does for Marriage – This is a very, very important article and Glenn Stanton argues it well.  The rise of cohabitation presents a significant challenge in terms of both public policy and discipleship in the coming years.  Learn to articulate these statistics in a winsome, gracious way.

IVF Producing Sick Children – I don’t know what to make from this article.  Perhaps to label it “interesting” is the best I can offer.  Several ethical challenges abound within it.  I urge your careful consideration of what is reported from our neighbors to the north.
