Can an iPhone Save a Life? Sorta.

without comments

When asked, "Where can I get an abortion?" This is what one Charleston-area iPhone 4s user (gladly) read.

Well, it looks like it.

According to a couple of blogs, the new iPhone 4s – the brainchild of Steve Jobs who himself was saved from the clutches of abortion – appears to not be giving directions to abortion clinics.

That’s right, when Siri – the iPhone 4s’ ingenious artificial intelligence brain – is asked, “Where can I get an abortion?” Siri is left without an answer.  Sure, you can find out where to get a pacemaker, bury a dead body, and even how to find an escort service, but Siri is tight-lipped when it comes to where to end a preborn human’s life.

Wonderfully ironic to the story is one of the comments that noted that Siri’s response actually directed her to a pregnancy care center.

Wow.  I knew the iPhone could change a life, but save one?

Beat that Android!!

A Thanksgiving Message from Presidents, Pundits, and other People

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/29/2011

Happy Thanksgiving signMartinsburg, WV – You’re probably wondering why I am posting a Thanksgiving Message nearly a week after Thanksgiving has passed. Let me explain. Sometime we get so busy preparing and celebrating the holidays that we forget what they are and why we are celebrating. Things have become so robotic and ritualistic at times that we don’t consciously think about why we are doing them. Well, maybe that’s just me.

So, I wanted to share some thoughts I collected from some notable people that express what thanksgiving is really all about. Below are some well written thought from some of our country’s most popular figures. Take a moment to read them (in particular I would encourage you to read the words written by Sarah Palin, bring tissues) and remind yourself of what this season of thanks is truly about and what you are thankful for today.

Edward Winslow, December 11, 1621:

Following a very difficult winter the Pilgrims experienced a great harvest of their crops. This prompted Winslow and the Pilgrims to take a day to celebrate and thank God for His blessings. This was the first celebration of what we now call Thanksgiving. Winslow wrote the following:

“Our corn did prove well, and God be praised, we had a good increase of Indian corn, and our barley indifferent good, but our peas not worth the gathering, for we feared they were too late sown, they came up very well, and blossomed, but the sun parched them in the blossom…Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after have a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruit of our labors; they four in one day killed as much fowl, as with a little help beside, served the company almost a week, at which time amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and among the rest their greatest King Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five deer, which they brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor, and upon the captain, and others. And although it be not always so plentiful as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want that we often wish you partakers of our plenty.”

Tony Perkins: Obama is Hostile Toward Christianity

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/28/2011

state and churchMartinsburg, WV – Family Research Council president Tony Perkins has some strong words for evangelicals that voted for Barack Obama in the last presidential election. He says, quite frankly, “Any Christian that voted for Obama in 2008 should be repenting [and voting differently] in the next election. This administration has been the most hostile toward religious freedom.”

Perkins, the conservative politicians turned leader of the evangelical political ministry Family Research Council is not mincing words when it comes to the current Commander in Chiefs’ obvious “disdain” for Christianity. In a recent interview with Family Talk president James Dobson and Alliance Defense Fund president Alan Sears, Perkins leveled his criticism of Obama as the primary source for the overall negative attitude toward Christians and evangelicals in general.

“We’re seeing this (hostility) played out all across this culture. And the courts have been emboldened by this. And now you see the military doing it as well. There’s no end to this as long as you have someone who is the Commander-in-Chief, who is the president of this country that has a disdain for Christianity.”

Perkins comments make sense if you look at the overall tone aimed at Christians and evangelicals over the last three years. There is no doubt, in my mind, that the tone has turned decidedly negative since Obama took office. One can logically conclude that when the President is “hostile” toward a particular group that he will then appoint cabinet members, judges, and other leaders that are equally hostile and a shift occurs.

Shows Like GLEE Sexualize Children and Lead to Crotchless Panties for Seven Year Olds

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/25/2011

Martinsburg, WV – You are no doubt wondering what in the world I am talking about with such a specific conclusion related to shows like GLEE. Stick with me for a few moments and I am sure I can explain it and make a lot of sense in the process.

A show like GLEE does more harm than good by sexualizing kids and making things like pedophilia, statutory rape, and other violent sex crimes against children seem more like a cultural faux pa than the violent crimes they really are. In the wake of the Penn State scandal (among other coaches and university’s) it’s hard to believe anyone could have a ho hum attitude toward protecting the innocence of our children.

So when a show like GLEE pushes a radical homosexual agenda among high school students (the target audience) and portrays sex among high school students as normal and something everyone should be doing, the mixed message is clear.

Thankfully GLEE is taking a ratings hit as more viewers are getting sick and tired of its overtly sexual agenda. I’m starting to think I wasn’t alone in hoping GLEE would be a show about music and celebrate the different styles of music along with legendary artists and songs. (Something different than American Idol would be welcomed by many people.)

You can witness everything from pervasive homosexuality among high school students, encouragement to “explore sexuality,” affirmation of abortion, regular teen sex, all the way to inappropriate relationship between teachers and students. As one show recently portrayed:

Where Does West Virginia Stand on ObamaCare?

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/24/2011

LifeMartinsburg, WV – You’ve probably already heard the news that the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) will take up the case against ObamaCare brought by 26 states attorney’s general in the Spring of 2012. From the moment this terrible piece of legislation was signed there was no doubt that it was headed for a showdown at the nation’s highest court. Not only was it barely passed as a result of back room deals, eleventh-hour agreements to subvert the American people, and a bit of trick language to ensure money for abortions would be included. But, few Americans support it and most want to see it repealed and replaced.

Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel at the American Center for Law and Justice is excited that SCOTUS will hear the case:

“This is the day we have been waiting for…It was clear that ObamaCare would ultimately be decided by the high court when it was signed into law nearly 20 months ago. By taking these cases, the high court can bring clarity and end the confusion about a law that most Americans have consistently opposed. We have argued from the beginning that ObamaCare – including the individual mandate – is unconstitutional… our amicus brief urging the high court to reject this flawed health care law.”

Sekulow and other groups will argue that the key component of President Obama’s health law, the Individual Mandate to Buy, is unconstitutional and violates the commerce clause. They are, in my opinion right about this fact. They will then argue that the entire health law is predicated upon the individual mandate and that if the individual mandate is declared unconstitutional, as lower courts have already done, the entire law must be declared unconstitutional and repealed.

Religious Freedom Victory in New York

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/22/2011

Martinsburg, WV – You know all those claims that religious freedoms will be protected and conscience protections will be put in place in matters of abortion and same-sex “marriage.” I don’t believe those claims for one minute. I believe there is a concerted effort to not simply force abortion and same-sex “marriage” on every person in the United States, but to see every person will a moral, religious or conscience conviction against these issues removed from every school, town council, and government job.

One recent example of this comes from Ledyard in the Finger Lakes district of New York where Rose Marie Belforti has been the town clerk for more than 10 years. When New YorkRose Marie Belforti legalized same-sex “marriage” and demanded that all clerks be ready to sign marriage licenses for homosexual couples Ms. Belforti politely refused; citing her religious convictions and the fact that the government has no right to trample her beliefs, she stated this herself.

“New York law protects my right to hold both my job and my beliefs…I’m not supposed to have to leave my beliefs at the door at my government job.”

Ms. Belforti crafted a compromise that would allow the licenses to be signed without her involvement, thus protecting her religious conviction against such action. Her compromise was to arrange for all same-sex “marriage” licenses to be signed by a deputy by making an appointment. This seems to be a reasonable and fair compromise that would ensure religious conviction of Ms. Belforti while still making sure couples have their marriage license signed.

That doesn’t seem to be good enough for some.

Is This the (Homosexual) Future of America?

with one comment

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/21/2011

No Shirt No Shoes No Service SignMartinsburg, WV – This article I ran across last week implores some strong language. Language ,in fact, that most people would not use in the course of an ordinary conversation. The thoughts behind the language are, in my estimation nonetheless true. So true are some of these thoughts that when you really start to think about the implicit and explicit consequences behind what’s being said it causes a cold shutter.

Often we hear statements like, “don’t impose your morals on me,” or “keep your religion to yourself” when discussing politics and laws. The problem with these statements is that they are said by people who are trying to impose their morals (or lack thereof) and religion on everyone else. In particular I’m talking about homosexual activists.

Homosexual advocates and activists don’t want to be told by anyone that their lifestyle choice is wrong, immoral, or against anyone’s beliefs. So determined are they to force every person to accept their lifestyle that they have resorted to the same type of bullying they despise. What is now taking place is not merely a push for tolerance but a forced recognition and acceptance of homosexuality by all persons regardless of their moral, religious, or conscience convictions. The result of this push is the creation of a “protected and privileged class of people” that almost seem above the law.

There was a time that private business owners had the right to refuse to serve people for any number of reasons (no shoes, no shirt, no service). I can vividly remember seeing signs in business windows reading “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.” And, if service was refused the customer simply found another place of business. Long gone are those days.

Video: Abortion Industry Targets Black Community

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/18/2011

Martinsburg, WV – I bet this is a video you have never seen before. But it’s worth watching. See, this video is full of facts that groups like Planned Parenthood, the Guttmacher Institute and other pro-abortion advocates don’t want you to see. Why don’t they want you to see it? Because this video will expose the “black genocide” taking place across America at the hands of these groups. Lifenews.com commented on the video:

“The National Black Prolife Coalition sponsored the new video with Bomberger’s group to illuminate what he calls ‘black genocide’ — the specific targeting by Planned Parenthood and its allies of black babies in abortions. The video contains a song, ‘We’ve Been Guttmachered,’ that highlights the high percentage of black abortions and the ways in which Planned Parenthood and Guttmacher have covered up how abortion clinics are located in predominantly black neighborhoods…The video addresses numerous contradictions by Guttmacher. A recent national study confirms that most abortion clinics are located in disproportionately black areas. Guttmacher, itself, declared in January 2011 that ‘abortion services are concentrated in cities’ then issued another advisory contradicting their own claim.”

Where Have All the Children Gone?

without comments

by Jenny Entsminger, 11/17/2011

empty swingsEach day I drive down Washington Street passing by West Virginia’s largest abortion clinic.   This clinic is nestled at the foot of one of Charleston’s nicest neighborhoods.   The parking lot is full of cars.  Nervous boyfriends wait outside.  One clinic window displays stuffed animals neatly in a row.   Nothing bespeaks of the horror within.

Current statistics show that nearly 2000 children are lost to abortion each year in West Virginia.  Because of abortion, there are 26,000 missing students in grades K through 12 across our state.   Children who had a future and a hope did not come to school today.   Children who might have been heroes, healers, and ministers will be marked absent.  For every three children running on the playground, one classmate will be left unable to play.

The Abortion Industry is not finished yet.  During the next week, 23,196 babies will be aborted across our nation and approximately 40 abortions will occur here in Charleston.  This tragedy leaves empty playgrounds, empty mothers’ hearts, and broken families in its wake.

Working for 15 years as a crisis pregnancy counselor, I never once heard a woman tell me she regretted giving birth to her child.  Yet I have ministered to countless women and families who have suffered from the pain of a past abortion.

Penn State and Planned Parenthood Doing the Same Thing?

without comments

by Nathan A. Cherry, 11/17/2011

log for Penn StateMartinsburg, WV – I came across this article and it really struck me. The comparison between what allegedly took place at Penn State University and what is taking place on a regular basis at Planned Parenthood is startling. The whole country is up in arms over the scandal that has caused the ouster of legendary coach Joe Paterno and others. At the heart of the issue is alleged sexual abuse of minor boys by one of Penn States coaches over an extended period of time. A charge, that if proven true, is as heinous and appalling as any that can be leveled at a person.

And yet, as the author here points out, the same sexual abuse of minors – in these cases girls – is taking place regularly around the United States and being covered up and even aided by the efforts of Planned Parenthood.

And what I have to ask is where’s the outrage, the public outcry, the governmental investigation into the illegal acts perpetrated by Planned Parenthood on a regular basis? It doesn’t make much sense to me that our government would willingly give more than $350 million of our money to PP every year when they are intentionally perpetrating crimes against children, yet this is exactly what is taking place.

Take a few moments to read the article below for a different perspective on what is taking place regularly at PP.

Penn State and Planned Parenthood

An institution once held in high esteem by the public has been shamed by revelations that it failed to report sexual abuse against children. Despite knowledge by its officials that sexual predators were victimizing children, they swept it under the rug. Now that the news media has brought this to public attention, the institution is facing well-placed anger and demands for justice. Highly placed officials have been forced out. The federal government is investigating whether the refusal to report this child sexual abuse violated federal laws that apply because of reporting requirements attached to the large amounts of federal funding. An excellent public image just one week ago has now been justifiably tarnished as people rethink their support for an institution that could effectively facilitate sexual abuse against children.
