Democratic Convention to Host Muslim Celebration

by Nathan A. Cherry, 09/04/2012

The Democratic National Convention is under heavy pressure to compete with the Republican Convention, which many say was one of the best ever. Members of the DNC have said that their convention will be the most inclusive on record and, to prove it, they are hosting a Muslim celebration. reported: “The Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs coordinated the program titled, ‘Jumah at the DNC.’ The events, which are expected to draw up to 20,000 Muslims, will include everything from prayer, to a regal banquet and a cultural festival.” The controversial event already has many Democrats riled up, and others are refusing to attend. But that’s not my point. My point is that it is more than a little hypocritical that the DNC would call itself “inclusive” and invite Muslims to host a celebration while we all know they would never – ever – do the same for Christians. To say that President Obama has bent over backwards to accommodate Muslims while seemingly doing all in his power to stifle Christians, would be an understatement. The trend of offering religious freedom to Muslims in cases of their clothing, times for prayer, and other things related to the exercise of their faith, while refusing to do the same for Christians it troubling.
