Tebow Ad Puts Pro-Abortion Advocates to Shame
By Nathan A. Cherry
Martinsburg, W.V. – Who was the best quarterback in the Super Bowl, Drew Brees or Peyton Manning? Brees and the Saints brought home the first ever Super Bowl appearance and victory to their loyal fans in New Orleans. For all the hype and media surrounding the Super Bowl the most talked about quarterback may not have even played. Of course I am talking about Tim Tebow.
Two weeks before the Super Bowl it became known that Tim Tebow and Focus on the Family had collaborated on a commercial to run during the game that would tell the Tebow story. The story of a difficult choice made by a mother to support life and save her unborn son; despite whatever consequences were involved. Pro-abortion groups went ballistic.
Women’s Media Center president Jehmu Greene debated Bill O’Reilly in this video posted on Youtube.com. The National Organization for Women (NOW) and the WMC joined forces to launch a campaign and petition CBS to remove the ad. And even seemingly nice “grannies” in Florida “raged” against the upcoming ad in their own video (click here for the video. Warning: explicit language)
Considering that CBS is not known for its conservative leanings it is hard to imagine so much uproar over a commercial that no one had seen. Fast forward to approximately 5 seconds after the Tebow ad aired.
By now everyone watching the Super Bowl knows what many pro-lifers have known for a long time about NOW, the WMC, and other pro-abortion groups, namely that they don’t care at all about choice, just abortions.
Did any of these groups, after seeing a very well produced – not the least bit offensive – commercial come out and say, “Sorry, we made a mistake.” Not a chance. In fact, NOW President Terry O’Neill continued to rant and rave:
”I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it… I don’t find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself.”
Really? That’s what you have to say? I suppose next you will fume over the Snickers commercial that showed elderly Betty White getting knocked down? No, there is no way you would go after corporate super-star Snickers.
A more common sense and reality-based dialogue took place thanks to CBS News legal reporter Jan Crawford. Writing at the “Crossroads” blog, Crawford correctly summarizes:
”According to the women’s rights groups, Pam Tebow shouldn’t be able to talk about her choice. They won’t even allow the discussion. And that shows just how much the issue of abortion has been taken out of public discourse… Just to put it in context, though, consider this: It’s not okay to ‘Celebrate Life,’ but apparently no one seems to have a problem with ads that glorify death.” (Click here for full article)
A big “thanks” to NOW, the WMC and other pro-abortion groups for showing their true colors. It was never about choice or the choice Pam Tebow made would have been celebrated. It was never about violence against women or years of misogynistic themes would have been decried. Plain and simple this was about continuing to cover up the truth and lie to the American people of the dangers and harm caused by abortion and the continued murder of millions of innocent children. Now that’s offensive.
