Prayers for Boston: Chilling Video Captures Explosion

As details of the horrific events at the Boston Marathon Monday afternoon continue to come in, we send our thoughts and prayers out to the victims and their families, and the people of Boston. We join Americans in grieving for lives that were lost, and for those that were wounded. We thank the brave Americans that thought of their neighbor first and sought to help victims in any way possible. We thank our first responders who, once again, began working diligently to help victims and ensure the safety of everyone they could. Once again pictures and stories of the triumphant patriotic American spirit are emerging and we are encouraged to see the unity and cooperation of all people in the after math of this tragedy.

This terrorist attack is yet another cowardly act against innocent Americans. We strongly condemn these actions and hope our President, Congress, and law enforcement will use all means available to bring the perpetrators to justice. A recent article from FoxNews.com indicates that authorities have a person of interest in custody:

“A source close to the investigation confirms to FoxNews.com the man whose apartment was searched is considered a person of interest in the case, and is the same person of interest Fox News confirmed earlier authorities are guarding at a local hospital. The source confirmed to FoxNews.com that the person of interest is Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, a 20-year-old Saudi. His Facebook page identifies him as a current or former student at the New England School of English. He is believed to have entered the country on a student visa.”

Did You Know: 53% of Americans Oppose 99% of Abortions

A recent poll reveals that a majority of Americans oppose nearly every abortion. While the media likes to tout the “virtues” of abortion and criticize the “war on women” by pro-life advocates, once again poll results show a different story. An article at LifeNews.com shares the encouraging results:

“The poll found 47 percent of Americans identify themselves as pro-life while 49 percent say they ‘pro-choice’ on abortions. But when respondents are asked to identify exactly where they stand on abortion, using a list of six different positions, those two labels are shown as not representative of where Americans really stand on abortion. Most Americans oppose abortion for most reasons, the Polling Company survey found:

Abortion should be prohibited in all circumstances: 11%
Abortion should be legal only to save the life of the mother: 14%
Abortion should be legal only to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest: 28%”  Click here for original article.

A new info-graphic shows exactly what Americans think about abortion. It’s an interesting compilation of data as it would seem most Americans favor abortion in some way or another. And yet, when the question is asked another way it seems most Americans are pro-life. What it really shows is that there is a misunderstanding of terms. It would seem some people believe you can be “pro-life” while still supporting abortion in certain circumstances. Piers Morgan Doesn’t Like the Bible or Constitution – Americans and Christians Continue to Thrive

Piers MorganIf anyone doubts that there is an organized attack on religious freedom in America, I would say that person simply isn’t paying attention. We live in an unprecedented time when the personal liberties of Americans are being attacked at rapid pace. Religious freedom is among the liberal left’s most coveted prizes. Liberal’s know that if they can silence pastors and religious people, they will be able to accomplish their agenda far quicker.

The lack of respect for our nation’s Constitution is appalling, and even sacred documents like the Bible are once again under attack from people that know little to nothing about them. Liberal talking head Piers Morgan believes the U.S. Constitution and the Bible are both flawed documents that need amended. On his television show Morgan made the following statement:

“Both the Bible and the Constitution were well intentioned but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it…My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the Bible.”

Morgan showed a profound arrogance in making such a statement, arrogance not unlike that displayed by many liberals that want to change the words of Scripture, or even invent new Scriptures that affirm what God has called sin. In doing so the liberal left has decided it is now the morality police and will determine what is right and wrong for everyone; even those who choose to adhere to a traditional morality based on transcendent truth.

POLL: Americans Want More Restrictions on Abortion

A new poll says that Americans want to see more restrictions on abortion. While Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby want us all to believe that Americans overwhelmingly support all abortions all the time, the data – not to mention voting booth – tells another story entirely; a true story. A recent article notes:

“Four decades after the Supreme Court’s controversial decision in Roe v. Wade, a new Marist poll provides more details about Americans’ attitude on abortion, with 83 percent favoring significant restrictions. The poll reveals that support for significant abortion restrictions has increased by four points since last year — rising from 79 percent to 83 percent. Of the 83 percent who support significant restrictions on abortion, 10 percent believe abortion should never be permitted; 12 percent believe abortion should be allowed only to save the life of the mother; 34 percent would restrict abortion only to cases of rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother; and 27 percent would limit abortion to — at most — the first three months of pregnancy.”  The truth is, the pro-life message is winning in the fight to defend life. Where Do Liberals, Conservatives, Americans Go from Here?

The election is over and many conservatives and Christians are disappointed. Some are even fearful of what another four years with the current administration will do to America. From calls for revolution to people making plans to move to other countries there is a landscape of worry and anxiety across the nation.

After perusing my Twitter and Facebook feeds after the election was decided a number of thoughts continued to resonate in my mind. I want to share a few of those thoughts in an effort to point us all in a positive direction forward as we move ahead of this election.

First, I hope from this point on people will learn to disagree with civility and respect.

I had a number of conversations with people throughout the election cycle, some of whom did not agree with me, but I made a concerted effort to show respect and civility to them and their views. I don’t think I attacked anyone, or slandered anyone either in conversation, on a blog, or on social media. If I did, get in touch and let me know because I want to apologize. Being able to disagree with civility and respect for divergent views is a benchmark of a free society. When we are unable to do so, we will see the erosion of freedom and the rise of forced conformity.

Abortion Views of Young Americans – Might Surprise You!

Abortion infographDespite living under the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history and the Obama administration’s insistence on funding Planned Parenthood with our money, the last two years have seen more pro-life advances than in recent history. And even though Obama continues to give Planned Parenthood larger sums of money, going so far as to ignore state legislatures that defund the corrupt abortion merchant by shelling out tax payer money anyway, I don’t think we are done seeing life laws strengthened, defended, and instituted.

The average person might be under the impression that a majority of Americans favor abortion and believe abortion on demand should be the standard. Nothing could be farther from the truth. While nearly every poll I’ve seen shows that a majority of Americans support life – anywhere from 55%-70% depending on the poll – a new study from Students for Life of America shows just how supportive of life the younger generations really is. The report concludes:

  • 89% favored requiring abortionists to follow the same medical and safety protocols as other surgical clinics
  • 84% favored requiring abortion facilities to warn women of seeking abortions of potential health risks
  • 76% favored allowing pregnant women to view sonograms before undergoing an abortion
  • 74% support making sex-selection abortions illegal in United States
  • 70% agreed with offering a woman the opportunity to anesthetize her child before the abortion procedure

Does “Majority of Americans” Really Support Same Sex “Marriage?”

marriage rallyOkay, I admit it; I am really wrapped up in the marriage discussion taking place across America right now. Never before have so many people talked so openly and freely about their position on the subject, and never before has so much been at stake regarding the issue. So I find myself listening to talk radio, checking my twitter feed, and reading a dozen articles each day on how the conversation is taking shape across the political and social landscape of the country.

I recently ran across several articles that deserve mention and just a little commentary, so I wanted to make sure you had a chance to look at them. One article by Lazar and Daniel Berman, writing at The American.com, says that young voters won’t tip the scales in favor of gay marriage anytime soon.

Using demographic polling from voters in North Carolina and California the Berman’s show how younger voters only support same-sex “marriage” marginally, and that their vocal support doesn’t translate into votes when it comes to ballot initiatives like Prop 8 and Amendment 1. The article makes an assertion worth noting relating to the recent vote in North Carolina on the definition of marriage:

“In fact, even if nobody over age 45 had voted Tuesday, the amendment still would have passed by around 8 percentage points, according to the adjusted data above.”

In other words, it’s not just older, conservative voters supporting traditional marriage and opposing marriage redefinition, its younger voters as well. This data makes me wonder where the media gets their information and “poll results” showing that a “majority of Americans support same-sex ‘marriage.’” Obviously the data doesn’t support this claim.

CNN Poll Concludes Most Americans are Pro Life

Martinsburg, WV – as election campaigns heat up and races get more focused there will be a narrowing of issues leading back to some of the main concerns Americans continue to have. For conservatives – Republican and Democrat alike – one issue where common ground is found is on the issue of abortion. More than once surveys have shown broad bi-partisan support for limiting abortion and a recent CNN Poll is no different.

This new CNN Poll concludes, nearly the same as an earlier Gallup Poll did, that nearly two-thirds (62%) of Americans want to see a majority of abortions made illegal. It would be hard to argue that the findings reflect only Republican or even conservative American opinion. The issue of abortion has taken on a political position all its own as both Democrats and Republicans are tired to seeing innocent children killed and millions of dollars wasted in the form of Planned Parenthood and other abortion business funding.

Consider these findings from the CNN Poll:

*The survey found 25 percent of Americans want all abortions legal while 21 percent want all abortions illegal, and it had a large group of 53 percent of Americans saying abortions should be legal only under certain circumstances.

*In total, 62 percent of Americans want all or most abortions to be prohibited while only 37 percent of Americans want all or most abortions kept legal — the position of President Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion business.

What Percentage of Americans Are Gay?

Martinsburg, WV – If you only watch mainstream news outlets or pay attention to the liberal talking heads on your television you would be inclined to think that at least 25% of the American population was homosexual. The way advocates are fighting for their rights and everyone from politicians to pundits are calling for a celebration of this lifestyle it would seem this is a major group of people. And yet, it’s not. In fact, a new study says that it is a tiny fraction of the American population.

While I don’t fully agree with every statement made by the author of this article, I do agree on a number of his thoughts and am equally surprised by the conclusions of recent studies. It would seem that the figure or 25% or even the commonly cited 1 in 10 as the percentage of homosexual Americans is considerably wrong. The more accurate and updated figure is 1.4%! What a small minority.

The author writes, “The results….suggest that choice and change play larger roles in sexual identity than commonly assumed.”

The argument over whether a person “chooses” to be gay or not has raged as far back as I can remember. I can agree with many that factors during early childhood and adolescent years contribute heavily to a person’s identifying as homosexual. I also believe that the decision to act on those homosexual inclinations is solely in the hands of that person; in essence, it is their choice.
