Catholic high school cans teacher after his big, gay wedding

In a state like California, this is sure to start some controversy. But this is an important story and the results of the events taking place could have ramifications for us all. It seems a Catholic school employed a homosexual teacher for a number of years, and knew he was gay. But then he decided to get married in a very public way and pictures were published in the local newspaper. The Catholic school then decided not to renew his contract. The school said their decision was based on doctrine: “While the school does not discriminate against teachers or other school employees based on their private lifestyle choices, public displays of behavior that are directly contrary to church teachings are inconsistent with these values.” This, to me, is a very tentative position to take. If a faith-based school is going to employ a homosexual and say that their “private life” is of no consequence to them, but then fire that same teacher for making his private life public, it seems inconsistent. Not just morally and biblically inconsistent, it seems legally inconsistent. What I am most concerned about is the possible challenge to the church’s autonomy in hiring based on adherence to doctrine for churches. The Hosanna-Tabor case has set a precedent, but as we’ve seen recently, that doesn’t seem to be an obstacle for the Obama administration and our current Supreme Court. This is one to watch. House votes 232-185 to block the IRS from enforcing ObamaCare

The House of Representatives is trying once again to defund ObamaCare and prevent government over-reach into healthcare. A recent article reports: “The House voted Friday to prevent the IRS from enforcing any aspect of ObamaCare, a bill meant to exact revenge against an agency that Republicans say is incapable of neutral enforcement of the law. Members approved the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act in a 232-185 vote. Four Democrats supported the bill along with every Republican.” Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem any of the representatives from West Virginia voted for this much needed measure. Americans have overwhelmingly displayed contempt for ObamaCare and desire to see it repealed and replaced with measures that will actually benefit hard-working families. Republicans in the House have responded by trying to defund ObamaCare, which would effectively halt enforcement of the bill, but Democrats have continued to push it through despite its harming effect on health care and the economy. One has to wonder, if this bill is so great for Americans, why is Congress exempting themselves and their staff from it? It seems to me if it was truly a great bill they would set the example and be the first to follow its requirements. Actions speak louder than partisan rhetoric. Click here for original article.

Mainstream Media Ignores Massive Fraud at Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

Our readers know by now how much I detest Planned Parenthood. Those who try to convince me that they “do some good” quickly get my response of “I don’t go to the garbage can to find a little ‘good food.’” Planned Parenthood has done more harm to women and children in America (and the world) than most organizations. And they are doing it with the help of President Obama and out tax dollars. Speaking of our tax dollars, Planned Parenthood is abusing our money.  You wouldn’t know that Planned Parenthood is setting fraud cases in various states because the mainstream media isn’t covering it. They love Planned Parenthood and will quickly cover for them. Not us. We are seeking to bring the abortion industry into the spotlight, fraud and all. Next time you pay your taxes, remember that Planned Parenthood will get a lot of your money and will then abuse it, the media will cover it up, and President Obama will then give them more. Majority of Americans Back 20-Week Abortion Ban, Women More Than Men

As liberals continue to claim conservatives are waging a “war on women,” a new poll shows that a majority of Americans support a ban on abortions at 20 weeks. A recent article says:  “A total of 55 percent want a 20-week limit while 30 percent favor the current 24 week limit.” The best part about this new poll is that it shows the 20 week abortion ban is supported by more women than men. So if conservatives are waging a war on women, why are women supporting a 2o week abortion ban? Oh, that’s right, because people in general, but women specifically know that unborn children, not masses of tissue are growing inside them. And to subject that very real human to the torture of abortion after 20 weeks when they can feel pain, would be inhuman. Click here for original article.

New poll: Born again evangelicals by far most likely to support a child’s right-to-life

Bonus: A new poll shows that evangelicals are the group most likely to be pro-life and support restrictions on abortion. It must have something to do with recognizing that every person is made ‘in the image of God” and that whole “thou shalt not kill” thing. Click here for original article.

Public college freshmen forced to read comic book starring lesbian, child molester

Bonus: Before you send your high-school graduate to a public university, make sure you know what he or she will be reading and learning. The list of “required reading” for incoming freshmen includes books that better belong in the trash. Click here for original article.

School Employee Fired for Sex with Dog?

woman with dogMy biggest question here is why? Why would a public school suspend (without pay) a behavioral specialist just for being accused of having sex with a dog? Why would she then be charged with a crime, indicted, and be expected in court this week? After all, she is a consenting adult that presumably did no harm to the animal, performed these acts in the privacy of her own home, and simply lived out the lifestyle choice she desires. What is all the fuss about?

It seems to me that if this woman wants to have sex with her dog in the privacy of her home that no one should infringe on her right to do so. It’s not as though she actually abused the animal, unlike the man who sexually assaulted his pet peacock to the point of death. This woman, Stephanie Mikles, simply wants to be free to love who – or what – she loves because, as we all know, people can’t decide who (or what) they love, the heart decides that.

You get my point, right?

The same arguments being used by homosexuals to push for marriage redefinition can easily be applied to just about any sexual relationship. Here, let me show you what I mean. [Read more...]

Wow! ESPN Analyst Says Homosexuality is “Open Rebellion to God”

What makes these comments by ESPN analyst Chris Broussard so powerful is that he made bold statements of truth based on Scripture with grace and truth is perfect balance. I cannot do anything but applaud Broussard and his comments. Of course he being viciously attacked on Twitter and in the blogs by the “tolerant” left that don’t agree with his comments. But not only do I agree 100% with his comments, I support his right to speak his mind freely. Free speech is not free if it on’y applies to certain people and certain views. What makes Broussard’s comments sad is that he spoke the truth that many pastor’s are unwilling to speak – and yet he did it on a national stage! I have nothing but respect for him. Teacher Fired from Religious School for Being Lesbian?

A recent article reports: ”The firing of a gay physical-education teacher from a Columbus Catholic high school would be a violation of a city ordinance if a complaint were filed and investigators determined the dismissal was based on her sexual orientation. Carla Hale of Powell, who worked at Bishop Watterson High School in Clintonville for 19 years, said she was fired in March after an anonymous parent complained that an obituary for Hale’s mother listed the name of Hale’s female domestic partner.”

Notice that even though this is a Catholic school and the fact that the teacher is a lesbian is obviously a violation of the school’s religious convictions, that the school may still be cited for a violation by the state. Notice also that the teacher obviously hid her sexual orientation from the school, obviously realizing it was in contradiction of the school’s religious convictions – which could easily be called lying or false representation – and yet the school is said to be the one in the wrong. This is the logical end of “non-discrimination” bills. It strips the religious rights of people, organizations, and even schools and forces them to violate their faith. Engaging Weekend: 9 Things to Know About the Gosnell Murder Trial, Workers Recount Abortion Doc’s Clinic of Horrors, West Virginia Schools Under Fire for Abstinence Message

Engaging Weekend is a collection of article from the weekend you might have missed. But we thought they were important and wanted to make sure you had a chance to read them.

9 Things You Should Know About the Gosnell Infanticide and Murder Trial

The media has largely ignored the murder trial of Kermit Gosnell. He is accused of killing at least one woman attempting to perform an abortion, and also killing 7 infants born alive during botched abortions. He spent 30 years performing illegal abortions, making millions, while not having a medical degree or certification. In this recent article by The Gospel Coalition, Joe Carter shares 9 things you won’t hear in the mainstream media because they are attempting to cover up his trial and keep it from the public in order to push their radical abortion agenda. Groups like Planned Parenthood haven’t even condemned Gosnell and his work though it is illegal. This shows the depths of depravity the abortion industry is willing to accept to make a few bucks killing children. At the end of the article is the 3801 Lancaster Film Project video that you can watch. But be warned, it is graphic. Click here for original article.

School Teacher To Be Fired for Opposing Planned Parenthood and Abortion

A teacher in Oregon is facing termination for his outspoken opposition to Planned Parenthood and his support for life. It seems being outspoken in a district where Planned Parenthood and the schools are partners is a no no, so much for liberty and free speech. What is really disconcerting about this story is that there doesn’t seem to be any outrage, no unions coming to the teachers  aid trumpeting free speech. This is just another sign that schools are nothing but government controlled indoctrination institutions bent on making sure everyone learns the proper, politically correct views and shares them. The teacher recently said of his circumstances:

“I think, deep down, it’s because of my views…And that it’s much more important for them to have Planned Parenthood in the schools than to have a really dedicated teacher who really teaches math well and goes the extra mile and does a whole bunch with the kids.” Academics has taken a back seat to political correctness and indoctrination over the last few years and it seems to be getting worse. We have fallen in world rankings as the U.S. places greater importance on social issues than academics. It’s tragic state of affairs for our kids. Click here for original article.

Science Teacher Fired for Bible in the Classroom?

John Freshwater

Fired science teacher John Freshwater

An ongoing legal case is shaping up to be an interesting study of teachers’ religious freedom in the classroom. Of course every liberal talking head or pundit in front of a camera would have us all believe that teachers are “agents of the state” and have no rights at while in the classroom. Yet nothing could be farther from the truth.

TheBlaze.com shares details of the ongoing battle between fired science teacher John Freshwater and the school board:

“The Mount Vernon School Board dismissed John Freshwater in 2011 after investigators reported he preached Christian beliefs in class when discussing topics such as evolution and homosexuality and was insubordinate in failing to remove the Bible from his classroom. Freshwater also was accused of using a science tool to burn students’ arms with the image of a cross, but that allegation was resolved and was not a factor in his firing.”

Many of the charges against Freshwater have been dropped and proven unsubstantiated. Some have managed to endure and is the basis for the school board deciding to fire him. What is curious about that decision, as Freshwater explains in the video below, is that the HR investigation never interviewed any of Freshwater’s students for corroboration of the charges. So without so much as talking to one eyewitness, the school board decided to fire a veteran teacher with a spotless record. [Read more...]

Engaging Weekend: Police Chaplain Forced to Resign for Personal Marriage Belief, ObamaCare Getting Beaten in Court, Students Upset Over Special Treatment of Transgender Student

Police Chaplain Forced to Step Down After Expressing Views on Same-Sex Marriage

What happens when marriage is redefined? The lesson we can learn from our neighbors across the pond is that every citizen will be forced to affirm the new definition or face punishment. This includes statements made on personal websites. The case of a police chaplain is a prime example of this inevitable outcome. A recent article explains: “A Christian police chaplain has been forced out of his position after expressing his views on the Government’s proposals to introduce same-sex ‘marriages’ on his personal website…Despite making the comments on his personal blog, he was told by a senior officer that his remarks were representative of the force’s views on the issue and violated its ‘equality and diversity policy’. He was forced to step down after being told the he would need to comply with the policy in order to continue in his role as a force chaplain.” This is why “conscience protections” don’t work and amount to little more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. They are designed to woo unsuspecting conservatives into agreeing to cave on their definition of marriage only long enough to spring a trap that ends with punishment for refusing to affirm the new definition. Cases like this are already happening in the U.S. and we can only expect more if statues like DOMA are eliminated. Click here for original article.

Religious Freedom Outscores Obamacare 12-4 in Court

Just in case you are wondering how the HHS mandate is doing in court, the answer is: terrible. So far 75% of all lawsuits against the mandate have resulted in victory for those claiming infringement on their religious freedom. You would think the Obama administration would take a hint and revise the mandate in a way that truly protects religious freedom, but of course, you would be wrong. The latest victory was recently reported: “A Missouri-based plumbing products manufacturer is the latest company to win a court order against the Obama administration’s abortion pill mandate, bringing the total number of court rulings against the mandate to 12 compared to four in its favor. Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys and allied attorneys represent Sioux Chief Manufacturing Co. in a federal lawsuit filed last month to challenge the mandate, which forces employers—regardless of their religious or moral convictions—to provide insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization and contraception under threat of heavy penalties.“ Common sense says that people should not have to violate their religious freedoms in order to conduct business in the public sector. Just as private businesses are free to turn customers away for various reasons (think “no shirt, no shoes, no service”) they are also free to do business based on their religious convictions. This administration is learning just how entrenched that belief is in the Constitution and will hopefully revise the awful mandate. Click here for original article.

Students protest over transgender student’s ‘special treatment’

A recent report from Mississippi is the logical end of the effort to include “gender identity” into school anti-bullying laws. A student at the school, a male, says he is now transitioning to a female and has begun wearing female clothing. Students at the school say that isn’t fair because he is still a male and is being allowed to break the rules to dress like a female. The article states: “Students are protesting Wednesday because they feel they are now being discriminated against because the transgender student is breaking the school’s dress code and they are being punished for doing the same thing.” The problem here is that the students recognize the double standard and lack of common sense. If there is a dress code, it must apply to everyone equally. But elevating the “rights” of homosexuals and transgender people above everyone else will always result in unfair treatment. While the school would never admit it, the students have already said the obvious – they are being discriminated against. This is a clear illustration of why we at the FPCWV opposed the inclusion of “gender identity” into recent anti-bullying laws. Click here for original article.

Ohio court spars on science teacher’s creationist lessons

CBSNews.com reports: “State Supreme Court justices sparred with lawyers on Wednesday in a heated hour of arguments over the extent to which a now-fired public school science teacher had the right to push his religious beliefs in class. A lawyer for the school board that dismissed John Freshwater in 2011 said he waved a Bible at his students, handed out religious pamphlets and espoused creationism in his evolution lessons. Freshwater violated the constitutional separation between church and state and was rightfully fired, said David Smith, an attorney for the Mount Vernon School Board.” The problems here are 1. Evolution is a theory – an unproven idea – and no more right being taught than anything other theory of existence such as Creation. So if it’s appropriate to teach one theory, it should be just as appropriate to teach another; and 2. There is no “constitutional separation between church and state.” The much ballyhooed idea that a “separation clause” exists in our founding documents is false. Read the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, or the Bill of Rights and you won’t find it. Therefore this man has every right to teach a well -rounded science class which explores all possible theories for existence. Click here for original article.

Engaging Weekend: Catholic Bishops Reject Obama’s HHS Mandate Accommodation, Lesbian Teacher Says She Was Fired for Supporting LGBT Group, Fathers Are Missing from Abortion Debate

BISHOPS REJECT OBAMA ADMINISTRATION’S ‘ACCOMMODATION’ ON CONTRACEPTION MANDATE

Last week the Obama administration sought to stop the avalanche o lawsuits they were losing to religious employers regarding their HHS mandate. Roughly 70% of the lawsuits filed against the mandate have been ruled in favor of the plaintiff and injunctions against the mandate issued. So the administration thought it would “tweak” the HHS mandate to “accommodate” religious employers in hopes of easing the embarrassment. But it appears the proposed accommodations have fallen short. According to Cardinal Timothy Dolan, an outspoken advocate for religious freedom and life, the proposed changes are disappointing and don’t adequately make provisions for religious convictions opposed to contraception and other services. Dolan explained how the accommodations fall short in a recent article. I doubt anyone is surprised by the unsatisfactory attempt to accommodate religious freedom. The Obama administration has shown a deviant contempt for religious freedom and shows no signs of real concern for the religious convictions of Americans. I believe we will continue to see lawsuits against the mandate by religious employers and, before long, individual citizens seeking freedom from objectionable coverage and services in their insurance plans. Lesbian teacher says she was sacked over display celebrating LGBT month

In our current society I find this headline and the subsequent article hard to believe. I’m not making a definitive statement on whether or not it actually happened in this way, but it’s simply hard to believe. According to a recent article: “A former high school teacher has filed a lawsuit claiming that she was fired because she advised a club that placed a gay pride flag and photos of several prominent gay and lesbian individuals in a school display case.” Is it possible that a local school would dare oppose the homosexual agenda in their school? Would they actually let a teacher go because of her promotion of the homosexual lifestyle? These are question still to be answered, but the ideas behind them stir up debate as they relate to the promotion of other lifestyles – such as a traditional, Christian based lifestyle. If the school did violate the teachers First Amendment right for promoting this lifestyle then is it appropriate for any school to violate that same First Amendment right of a teacher to promote a religiously based traditional lifestyle? That remains to be seen. Click here for original article.

Fathers: The Missing Piece of the Abortion Puzzle

LifeNews.com recently stated: “Men bear equal responsibility as women for creating life but have no say in whether or not their unborn child will see the light of day. In the name of gender equality, that choice is placed on the shoulders of women alone. This harks back to the days when women who fell pregnant, like my great grandmother, were taken away from home to bear their child in shame whilst fathers-to-be went about their lives with impunity. Over time, the view that pregnancy was a woman’s fault has simply morphed into being a woman’s lifestyle choice.” Why is this the case? If it takes two people to create life why is it acceptable for only one to decide whether to end that life? We have a growing generation of lost father-hood thanks to abortion. Further, it seems less than equitable to allow the mother alone to determine what happens to the child created by both mother and father. Click here for original article.

Dems to Christians: ‘Get thee to a nunnery’

What would you say to people of faith with a deep conviction that homosexuality is morally wrong? Here’s what one Colorado state senator had to say: “What to say to those who claim that religion requires them to discriminate? I tell you what I’d say: ‘Get thee to a nunnery, and live there then. Go live a monastic life, away from modern society, away from people you can’t see as equals to yourself.’” The state senator is sponsoring a bill to give homosexuals all the right of marriage and even force religious business owners to cater to those they disagree with. Sounds like he is getting his cues from President Obama in making people of faith violate their religious convictions. Will we see more of this? Click here for original article.

Christian School in California Embroiled in Legal Battle

A case that should be of interest to every person associated with a Christian school is taking place in California right now. According to The Daily Caller: “A Christian school in Southern California is entangled in a legal battle with two former teachers who were fired in 2012 when they refused to supply satisfactory verification of their religious faith. The refusal came after church leaders asked employees of the Little Oaks School in Thousand Oaks to provide statements of faith along with a reference from a pastor before renewing their contracts…Preschool teachers Lynda Serrano and Mary Ellen Guevara declined to make the documents available.”

This is pertinent because, even though the school is a for-profit entity, if they lose this case it will have far-reaching implications for every Christian school across the country. It will jeopardize the ability of schools to expect the teachers they hire to be in line with their doctrinal beliefs, or to even be people of faith at all. If the court sides with the former teachers and agrees that agreement to the statement of faith and attestation to adherence to faith is not necessary, a teacher could be hired, later admit he is an atheist, and sue for discrimination should he be fired for not adhering to the statement of faith of the school. This case is one to keep an eye on. Click here for original article.
